Fallen Tear: The Ascension comes to consoles in 2027

September 24, 2026·3 min read

Fallen Tear: The Ascension gameplay shows a side-scrolling battle against several enemies inside dark ruins lit by turquoise energy.

Fallen Tear: The Ascension is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in 2027, Maximum Entertainment has announced. The console versions will follow the side-scrolling action RPG's full PC release, which arrived on Steam on September 23 after several months in Early Access.

Maximum Entertainment is working with publisher CMD Studios and developer Winter Crew Studios on the console launch. A new trailer accompanied the announcement, although an exact release date within 2027 has not been revealed.

Fallen Tear: The Ascension first entered Steam Early Access on March 17, 2026. Its version 1.0 release was initially planned for September 16 before being moved back one week to September 23.

The console announcement now expands the game's audience beyond PC. Maximum Entertainment has confirmed PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions, but has not said whether all three will launch on the same day. No PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions have been announced.

Hira's companions change combat and exploration

The story follows Hira, a mysterious child searching for answers about his forgotten past in the fantasy world of Raoah. His journey puts him against dangerous creatures and ancient gods as he explores a large interconnected world.

One of the game's main systems is Fated Bonds, which allows Hira to recruit allies. Each companion offers different abilities that can help during combat or open new ways to move through the world.

There are 22 potential companions to find, each with their own skills and story. Players can also customize Hira through skill trees and change their loadout as they fight enemies using attacks, parries and dodges. The game combines its Metroidvania-style exploration with elements inspired by party-based JRPGs and Souls-like combat.

The Temple of Oras serves as Hira's home base

Between expeditions, players return to the Temple of Oras, which acts as a customizable home base. Recruited allies can move into the temple, while minigames provide upgrades connected to Hira's journey.

The world uses hand-drawn animation and includes professional voice acting. Exploration is built around discovering new routes and abilities, with different companions affecting how players can reach areas across Raoah.

The PC version is available now through Steam following its September 23 full release. PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch players will have to wait until 2027, with Maximum Entertainment yet to announce a more specific launch window.
