Five Nights at Freddy's joins Fortnite for Fortnitemares 2026

Epic Games has confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy's is coming to Fortnite as part of Fortnitemares 2026. The crossover begins on October 1 and brings Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy into Battle Royale.

The collaboration was revealed in a new trailer showing Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and the original animatronic band. Epic says players will face the animatronics as bosses during the Halloween event.

The reveal trailer places much of the action inside Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, complete with its familiar party tables, stage and darkened corridors. Epic describes the Fazbear Band as having "taken over Battle Royale," confirming that the crossover will affect regular Battle Royale gameplay rather than being limited to Item Shop cosmetics.

Players will be able to fight the animatronic bosses during Fortnitemares. The footage also shows characters exploring the pizzeria with flashlights and moving through areas designed around the atmosphere of the original Five Nights at Freddy's games. Epic has not yet provided a full breakdown of the location or explained whether the pizzeria will remain on the Battle Royale map for the entire event.

All four main animatronics from the original game appear in the reveal. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy are shown both in their recognizable designs and in more damaged forms.

The trailer also suggests that players may be able to take control of the animatronics after defeating them. One sequence appears to show a player transforming into Chica, although Epic has not yet published detailed instructions explaining how the mechanic works. Cosmetics based on the characters are also expected, but Epic has not announced Item Shop prices or a complete list of outfits, Back Blings, emotes and other items.

The Living Tombstone's well-known Five Nights at Freddy's song can also be heard during the trailer. Epic has not yet confirmed whether it will be released separately as a Jam Track.

A Five Nights at Freddy's crossover had been rumored before Epic's announcement. Players had already noticed a building under construction on the current island that resembled Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, while leaks had pointed toward a possible Halloween collaboration.

Those clues were not enough to confirm the crossover at the time. Epic's September 27 trailer is the first direct confirmation that the horror series is joining Fortnite. The timing places the collaboration at the center of this year's Fortnitemares event, which begins on October 1.

Epic has not yet revealed the full Fortnitemares 2026 lineup or explained how long the Five Nights at Freddy's content will remain available. More details on the animatronic bosses, cosmetics and Battle Royale changes are expected when the event launches.
