FlyKnight Enhanced Edition Is Out Now as a Free Update With New Game+ and Randomizers

September 28, 2026·3 min read

FlyKnight's free Enhanced Edition expands replayability with scaling Hard mode, enemy and item randomizers, and new equipment. Co-op and Steam Deck performance also receive improvements.

FlyKnight has received its free Enhanced Edition update, adding New Game+, a harder difficulty, enemy and item randomizers, new weapons and substantial changes to bosses and encounters.

Developer Wabbaboy released the update on September 25 with no price increase, more than a year after first discussing plans for New Game+ and additional replay options. Steam now lists the game as FlyKnight Enhanced Edition.

Hard mode remixes the campaign and keeps scaling after each clear

The new Hard difficulty can be selected on a fresh character or used as FlyKnight's New Game+ mode. Rather than simply increasing enemy health and damage, it changes enemy encounters, introduces new enemies and variants, and gives bosses redesigned fights intended to make repeat runs more challenging.

Completing the game on Hard increases the New Game+ loop by one level, allowing players to continue into progressively harder runs. Finishing the mode also unlocks a new achievement and an additional scene after the credits.

A new SWAMP status effect is also tied to Hard and New Game+, giving the harder mode another mechanic not present in a standard playthrough.

Randomizers and new equipment open up different builds

Enemy and item randomizers can now be enabled independently when creating a character. Each supports Reasonable and Chaos settings, while a nine-digit seed can be edited for players who want to replay or share a particular setup.

Reasonable keeps replacements within the same class, while Chaos removes those restrictions. That gives players control over whether a randomized run stays relatively structured or becomes far less predictable.

The equipment pool has expanded alongside those options. Wands occupy a weapon slot and can help regenerate mana, while Battletomes use the shield slot and increase spell-casting speed alongside their defensive effects. Greatbows provide a slower but heavier ranged option.

The update also introduces Chitin, a resource that replenishes when resting at a bonfire. It powers equipment such as Chitin Charms and the Chitin Quiver, while four new flasks change how characters recover health and other resources. Several additional weapons have also been added to existing categories.

Steam Deck performance and co-op feedback have also been improved

Wabbaboy has made CPU performance improvements that the developer says should be particularly noticeable on Steam Deck. The update also fixes a large stutter when pausing the game.

Co-op receives several smaller but useful changes. NPC conversations now display speech bubbles to nearby players, including dialogue during boss introductions, while healing numbers and clearer damage indicators have been added to the interface. Players can also drink potions while knocked down.

Reviving another player now consumes a charge from the reviver's equipped flask and applies its effect to the fallen character. If no flask is equipped, the revived player returns with one HP.

The new Enhanced Edition content is only in English for now

The September 25 patch notes warn that the newly added content has not yet been localized, meaning the Enhanced Edition additions currently display only in English even though the base game supports multiple languages.

A same-day 1.1.1 hotfix has already addressed two problems in Hard mode, fixing the first boss's shield not being removed correctly and an issue preventing the second boss from taking damage as intended.
