Seattle raccoon Jimothy becomes an official Dungeons & Dragons cryptid

Seattle’s viral raccoon Jimothy has crossed into Dungeons & Dragons with an official monster entry on D&D Beyond. The raccoon is now listed as Jimothy, Beloved Cryptid, giving Dungeon Masters an easy way to add him to a campaign.

Jimothy became popular after videos showed the raccoon moving around Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood with a short, rounded body. The animal likely has a rare congenital spine condition, but recent sightings show he is still active in the wild.

D&D Beyond lists Jimothy as a Tiny Beast with an unaligned nature. The stat block gives him 17 hit points, a 30-foot walking speed, a 30-foot climbing speed and a Challenge Rating of 1/4.

That makes Jimothy more of a strange city encounter than a boss fight. He can understand Common but cannot speak, which fits the joke without making him a full talking character.

Jimothy’s abilities focus on raccoon behavior instead of normal fantasy danger. His actions include Nibble, Hurl Garbage and Captivate, giving him a mix of small attacks and charm-based disruption.

Hurl Garbage lets Jimothy throw trash at a target and make them stinky until his next turn. Captivate can charm nearby creatures that fail a Wisdom save, while Skitter lets him move quickly by using Dash or Hide as a bonus action.

Jimothy’s rise started as a local internet moment, but it quickly spread beyond Seattle. Videos of the raccoon led to fan art, social media accounts, local jokes and comparisons to cryptids because of his odd shape and sudden popularity.

The reaction also moved into real-world Seattle culture. Jimothy has been referenced by local fans, artists and sports accounts, while city officials have also planned a proclamation celebrating the raccoon’s place in the city’s summer.

Jimothy’s popularity has also come with reminders that he is still a wild animal. Wildlife experts and officials have urged fans not to chase, feed or interfere with him, even as more people try to spot him around Ballard.

Jimothy’s fame is built on videos taken from a distance. The best way to follow the trend is to enjoy him as a local mascot online while letting him move through the neighborhood safely.

D&D is not the only tabletop game to respond to Jimothy’s sudden fame. Pathfinder also received its own Jimothy-inspired material, giving tabletop players another way to bring the raccoon into a campaign.

The D&D Beyond version gives the meme a more official home for Dungeons & Dragons players. For now, Jimothy can be a city encounter, a weird ally or the tiny cryptid your party immediately tries to adopt.
