Opening Night Live starts a week that also includes two Xbox broadcasts, the Future Games Show, daily CD Projekt Red streams, and a dedicated indie showcase.
Gamescom 2026 officially runs from August 26 to August 30 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, but anyone watching from home should mark August 25 on the calendar instead. Opening Night Live begins the public announcement cycle a day before the exhibition floor opens, with the rest of the week split between publisher broadcasts, independent showcases, interviews, and live coverage from Cologne.
There is no single three-hour presentation containing everything Gamescom has to offer. The schedule stretches across six days, and the broadcasts serve very different purposes. Opening Night Live is where the largest coordinated announcements are likely to land. Xbox has two days to show its own lineup in greater detail, and Future Games Show and Awesome Indies provide room for games that may not get much time during the main event.
| Showcase | Date | PDT | EDT | BST | CEST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Opening Night Live pre-show | August 25 | 10:30 AM | 1:30 PM | 6:30 PM | 7:30 PM |
| Opening Night Live | August 25 | 11:00 AM | 2:00 PM | 7:00 PM | 8:00 PM |
| REDStreams | August 26-30 | 1:00-10:00 AM | 4:00 AM-1:00 PM | 9:00 AM-6:00 PM | 10:00 AM-7:00 PM |
| Xbox Gamescom Broadcast 1 | August 26 | 7:00 AM | 10:00 AM | 3:00 PM | 4:00 PM |

Gamescom Opening Night Live begins on Tuesday, August 25 at 8:00 PM CEST / 7:00 PM BST / 2:00 PM EDT / 11:00 AM PDT. A 30-minute pre-show starts at 7:30 PM CEST.
Geoff Keighley returns as host alongside Eefje Depoortere. As usual, the show is being positioned around world premieres, new trailers, announcements, and updates rather than long developer presentations. That makes it the most important broadcast for viewers who want the broadest snapshot of what publishers are bringing to Cologne.
Some appearances are already confirmed. CD Projekt Red will show more of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past, the unexpected new expansion scheduled for 2027. The studio has separately confirmed that the expansion will also receive presentations on the Gamescom show floor throughout the week. METRO 2039 is another title named by Gamescom organizers for Opening Night Live.
Another look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is also scheduled, with game director Naoki Hamaguchi set to appear during the broadcast.
The important distinction is between those confirmed appearances and everything else. Gamescom has a large exhibitor list, but a company having a booth in Cologne does not automatically mean it has an announcement prepared for Opening Night Live.

Xbox will broadcast live from its Gamescom booth on both Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27 at 4:00 PM CEST / 3:00 PM BST / 10:00 AM EDT / 7:00 AM PDT.
Microsoft says the streams will include developer interviews, gameplay reveals, new trailers, special guests, and other material from the show floor. These are separate broadcasts rather than a repeat of the Xbox Games Showcase held in June.
The company is also bringing 25 upcoming games and 140 gaming stations to Cologne. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II, Fable, METRO 2039, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, and Alien: Isolation 2 are among the games confirmed for the booth.
Some of those appearances are more substantial than a trailer playing on a screen. Gears of War: E-Day will offer its first public playable campaign experience, while Playground Games is preparing a live Fable demo presentation. Minecraft Dungeons II, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, and METRO 2039 will also be playable at Gamescom.
That gives the Xbox broadcasts a different job from Opening Night Live. June's Xbox Games Showcase already delivered the larger announcement event. Gamescom gives Microsoft more time to show how several of those games actually play.
The Future Games Show at Gamescom starts Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 PM CEST / 6:00 PM BST / 1:00 PM EDT / 10:00 AM PDT.
This year's presentation is hosted by Nick Apostolides and Angela Sant'Albano, who play Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem. The broadcast is expected to run for more than 90 minutes and combine world premieres, gameplay reveals, new trailers, developer interviews, and demo announcements.
Several games are already attached to the program. Eclipse Glow Games will provide a closer look at Tides of Annihilation, Capcom will bring Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Neon Giant will discuss its new open-world project No Law. More than 40 games are expected to appear across the show.
The main showcase will not be the end of the Future Games Show coverage. FGS Live From Gamescom begins immediately afterward, moving the focus onto the exhibition floor for more reveals, developer conversations, and reporting from Cologne.
For viewers watching several hours of Gamescom coverage on Wednesday, this is the busiest stretch of the week. Xbox begins at 4:00 PM CEST before Future Games Show takes over three hours later.
The Gamescom Awesome Indies show takes place Thursday, August 27 at 8:00 PM CEST / 7:00 PM BST / 2:00 PM EDT / 11:00 AM PDT.
Presented with IGN, the dedicated indie broadcast is expected to run for roughly 60 to 75 minutes. Its format includes game previews, trailers, interviews, and gameplay from independent studios rather than trying to compete directly with the blockbuster announcements that dominate Opening Night Live.
Gamescom organizers have expanded Awesome Indies for 2026 and identified it as one of the event's headline digital formats. The show has become particularly useful during a week where hundreds of games compete for attention on the exhibition floor.
It also makes August 27 another two-show day. Xbox begins its second broadcast at 4:00 PM CEST, followed by Awesome Indies four hours later.

CD Projekt Red is taking a different approach. Instead of concentrating everything into one showcase, REDStreams will run every day from August 26 through August 30, between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM CEST.
The schedule promises game previews, interviews, special guests, and behind-the-scenes material from Gamescom. Detailed day-by-day programming is expected once the event begins, so the nine-hour window should be treated as a live coverage block rather than nine uninterrupted hours of announcements.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past is the obvious project to watch after its Opening Night Live appearance, especially because CD Projekt Red is also running guided presentations for the expansion at its Gamescom booths. The studio has other projects in development, but their existence should not be treated as confirmation that they will appear on REDStreams.
That distinction matters with a schedule this long. A live broadcast from a convention floor can include interviews, recaps, community segments, and repeated gameplay without containing a major reveal every hour.
The final scheduled showcase is FGS Best of Gamescom, airing Sunday, August 30 at 7:00 PM CEST / 6:00 PM BST / 1:00 PM EDT / 10:00 AM PDT.
This is less about saving the week's largest announcement for Sunday and more about collecting what happened across five days in Cologne. The program will include show-floor footage, booth tours, developer interviews, gameplay demonstrations, and a recap of notable reveals.
It makes the stream useful for anyone who cannot follow the entire Gamescom schedule live. By August 30, Opening Night Live, both Xbox broadcasts, Future Games Show, Awesome Indies, and most of the show-floor coverage will already be complete.
The broadcast calendar only covers part of Gamescom. Nintendo, Ubisoft, Capcom, Bandai Namco, Sega, HoYoverse, Krafton, Team17, Xbox, and other companies are confirmed for the exhibition itself, and many games will be playable even if they never receive a dedicated livestream presentation.
Xbox alone has confirmed public demos and presentations for games including Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Minecraft Dungeons II, METRO 2039, and STRANGER THAN HEAVEN. Bandai Namco's lineup includes The Blood of Dawnwalker, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
Gamescom also says all available exhibition space has been booked for the first time, with organizers already considering further expansion from 2027. That means some of the most useful information during Gamescom week may arrive outside the headline broadcasts, through developer interviews, playable demos, and smaller announcements from the show floor.
For viewers interested mainly in new announcements, Opening Night Live on August 25 and the Future Games Show on August 26 are the two dates to prioritize. Anyone following Xbox should add both August 26 and 27, while Gamescom Awesome Indies gives independent developers a dedicated slot on Thursday. The rest of the week is designed less like one continuous showcase and more like a live window into what is happening across Cologne.
