Vaewolf gets new story trailer ahead of early 2027 launch

Milky Tea has released a new story trailer for Vaewolf, its supernatural hack-and-slash action game coming in early 2027. The footage appeared during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026 and shows more of the revenge story behind its elf protagonist, who can transform into both werewolf and vampire forms.

Vaewolf was first announced in August and is being published by Megabit. It is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The story begins after a Viking clan destroys the protagonist’s home and kills his family. The young elf survives the attack and gains supernatural powers that allow him to transform between three different forms.

His journey takes him through a reimagined version of northern England as he hunts the Vikings responsible. Milky Tea describes the character as the Vaewolf, a hybrid combining the abilities of a vampire and werewolf.

The new trailer puts more focus on that transformation and the revenge driving the campaign. It also shows some of the enemies and environments players will encounter while tracking the Viking clan.

Combat is built around switching between the elf, werewolf, and vampire forms during battles. Each one provides a different set of attacks rather than functioning as a simple visual transformation.

The elf fights from range with a bow and can fire several arrows at once. Transforming into the werewolf gives players stronger close-range attacks designed to tear through enemy defenses.

The vampire form instead uses dark magic to control fights. Players can quickly move between all three forms and combine their abilities into longer attack sequences and finishing moves. Milky Tea has not yet detailed the full progression system, but players will unlock additional abilities as the story continues.

Vaewolf takes place across a stylized version of the ancient English North. Its locations draw inspiration from the Lake District, including the mountains and lakes of Cumbria.

The journey will also move underground into caverns and ruins as the protagonist follows his enemies. Milky Tea is using hand-drawn environments and a graphic novel-inspired visual style with heavy shadows and Norse influences. The developer has cited both real northern English landscapes and illustrated comic art as influences on the game’s presentation.

Vaewolf is scheduled for early 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The Xbox version will also support Xbox Play Anywhere between console and PC.

Milky Tea and Megabit have not announced an exact release date. The developer plans to share further updates on the game’s development, world, and combat systems in the months leading up to launch.
