Barbie Rewind brings 16 classic games to modern platforms on November 12

Barbie Rewind is set to launch on November 12, bringing 16 classic Barbie games from the 1990s and 2000s to modern consoles and PC alongside a new DreamHouse customization experience.

Developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Atari, the collection is coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The release date was originally announced earlier this year and is now approaching with preorders available ahead of launch.

The collection covers more than 15 years of Barbie gaming history, beginning with the 1991 NES game Barbie. Other included titles span Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo releases.

The lineup includes Barbie Game Girl, Barbie Super Model, Barbie Race & Ride, Barbie Super Sports, Detective Barbie: The Mystery Cruise, Barbie Pet Rescue, Secret Agent Barbie: Royal Jewels Mission, Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race and Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses.

Digital Eclipse has adapted the older games for current hardware rather than requiring players to use their original systems. The collection also includes titles covering several genres, from platforming and racing to sports and adventure games.

One of the most notable additions is Barbie: Vacation Adventure, a game developed for Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo that was never officially released during the 1990s. Both versions are included in Barbie Rewind, giving the cancelled title its first commercial release decades later.

The complete collection also contains Barbie Ocean Discovery, Barbie Fashion Pack Games, Barbie Groovy Games, Barbie Gotta Have Games and Barbie as the Island Princess. Players can complete challenges across the retro games to unlock additional content for the collection's new DreamHouse.

Rather than presenting the 16 games through a simple menu, Digital Eclipse has built a pixel-art DreamHouse that players can customize. More than 250 pieces of furniture, decorations and accessories are inspired by real Barbie products released across more than 65 years.

Players can choose between three retro DreamHouse designs and mix different walls, floors and furniture between rooms. Barbie provides quests that award experience and unlock additional decorations, while Ken, Teresa and Christie also appear with their own requests.

A digital Lookbook adds more historical material covering Barbie DreamHouses and playsets. The approach follows Digital Eclipse's wider focus on preserving older games while giving their history additional context.

Barbie Rewind will cost $29.99 for the standard edition, with physical versions available for selected consoles. Atari is also selling a limited Deluxe Edition that includes a numbered collector's box, poster and an exclusive Barbie doll wearing an Atari shirt.

Only 20,000 of those dolls are being produced as part of the Deluxe package. The main game and its collection of 16 retro releases will become available across supported platforms on November 12.
