Dawnwalker and Onimusha Both Pass 1 Million Sales in Opening Days

The Blood of Dawnwalker and Onimusha: Way of the Sword have both passed one million copies sold worldwide within days of their September launches.

Rebel Wolves announced the milestone for The Blood of Dawnwalker on September 5, following the RPG's September 3 launch. Capcom says Onimusha: Way of the Sword sold more than one million units on its September 4 launch day.

Both totals cover worldwide sales across their respective platforms. Neither developer has released a breakdown showing how many copies were sold specifically on PlayStation 5.

The Blood of Dawnwalker has sold more than one million copies following its September 3 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game's official account announced the milestone on September 5 and thanked players for supporting the release.

The result gives Rebel Wolves an early milestone with both its first game and a new IP. The Polish studio was founded in 2022 and includes developers who previously worked on projects including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The dark fantasy RPG follows Coen, who fights as a human by day and uses vampire abilities at night while trying to rescue his family in Vale Sangora.

Capcom says Onimusha: Way of the Sword surpassed one million units worldwide on September 4, the same day it launched.

Way of the Sword brings the series back with Miyamoto Musashi as its protagonist, fighting the Genma in a supernatural version of Edo-era Kyoto. Musashi carries an Oni Gauntlet while fighting the Genma, with sword combat built around techniques including deflects, parries, dodges, and Issen attacks.

The strong opening for Way of the Sword has also taken total sales of the Onimusha series beyond 10 million units.

Capcom reported the franchise at more than 9.2 million units as of June 30, 2026, before the new game's release. Selling more than one million copies on launch day was enough to carry the series past the eight-figure mark.

The milestone comes with the first new Onimusha game in more than 20 years.
