Diablo 4 Season 14 Nerfs Its Best Mythic
July 6, 2026·3 min read
Blizzard has hit Heir of Perdition with one of the biggest item nerfs in Diablo 4 Season 14. The Mythic helmet was a favorite because it gave many endgame builds a huge damage boost with very little effort. That easy power is gone now, with its main bonus cut from 80% to 15%.
For players planning their season around that helmet, this changes the loot chase immediately. Heir of Perdition is still a rare and valuable item, but it no longer looks like the obvious best pick for almost every build.
Heir Of Perdition is no longer the easy answer
Heir of Perdition became popular because it was strong and simple. Players could equip it, gain a huge damage boost, and make almost any build hit harder.
That kind of item feels great when it drops, but it also creates a problem. If one helmet beats everything else too easily, players stop looking at other gear.
Season 14 pushes the helmet back into the pack. Builds that used it without thinking will now need to compare it against class Uniques, Legendary powers, and other Mythic options.
More builds will need a new plan
This nerf affects more than just one class in the game. Heir of Perdition worked across many endgame setups, which is why the change will be felt by so many players.
Some builds may still use it if the rest of the item fits their damage loop. Others may swap to a more focused helmet that supports a class skill, resource setup, or critical damage path.
The biggest impact is that players are not only losing power, but also a reliable gear option that makes it much easier to plan their builds.
Mother’s Favor now has a different role
The helmet’s Mother’s Favor effect has also changed. It now steals 15% Critical Strike Chance from nearby players while keeping its damage bonus active.
That makes the item less straightforward than before. Instead of being a simple damage button, it now has a stranger effect that players will need to test in real fights.
Group play may be where this change gets the most attention. If the critical chance steal feels awkward or weak, many players could move away from the helmet faster than expected.
Season 14 makes the Mythic hunt wider
The nerf also arrives alongside a bigger Mythic Unique rework. In Season 14, any Unique can become a Mythic or be upgraded into one, with max affix rolls and stronger Unique powers.
That means players have more high-end gear to chase. It also means Heir of Perdition has more competition than before.
There is still an important limit on how many crafted Mythics players can use. Players can only equip one crafted Mythic Unique at a time, though drops and cache rewards work differently. That should make gearing more flexible, but also less simple.
Players will find the new best helmet soon
The old plan was easy: chase Heir of Perdition and build around its damage. Season 14 makes that choice less clear.
That may annoy players who liked having one strong target, but it could make the endgame healthier. More helmets and Mythic rolls now have a chance to be important.
The real answer will come once players start pushing harder content. Heir of Perdition has lost its crown, and every build that depended on it now needs to prove what replaces it.
