DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations DLC Launches Tomorrow On July 7
July 6, 2026·3 min read
DOOM: The Dark Ages players will not have to wait much longer for the first major campaign expansion. Revelations launches on July 7 with six new levels, fresh demons, the Chain Spear weapon, and more Ripatorium content for players who want to keep testing their combat skills after the story. For anyone who finished the base game and wants a new reason to come back, this is the next fight.
The expansion continues the story after the main campaign. This time, the Slayer travels to a frozen version of Hell, giving players a brand-new adventure instead of just another mission.
Revelations adds a new campaign chapter
Revelations continues the Slayer’s story with a darker setup. He is wounded, betrayed, and trapped in a cruel purgatory where the fight pushes him deeper into Hell’s secrets.
The DLC includes six levels, with hidden paths, collectibles, and special encounters spread across the campaign. That should give returning players more than a short side trip.
That is important for DOOM because the best levels are not only about killing demons in open arenas. They also give players reasons to search, take risks, and find trouble between the biggest fights.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Is Getting A Long-Requested Update On July 7

The Chain Spear changes how fights move
The Chain Spear is the main new weapon, and it looks like the biggest gameplay change in the expansion. Players can throw it into demons, pull themselves forward, break defenses, parry attacks, and shift movement in the air.
That gives the Slayer a sharper tool without turning The Dark Ages into the faster style of DOOM Eternal. The base game was heavier and more grounded, and the Chain Spear seems built to add speed without losing that weight.
If the weapon is fun to use, it could make the whole DLC even better. A new gun is useful, but a new movement tool can change how every fight plays.
The new demons should push returning players
The expansion brings new enemies like the Warlock and Buzzsaw demons, along with returning threats such as the Archvile and Cosmic Elemental.
That combination should keep players alert from start to finish. New demons can force players to learn fresh attack patterns, while returning enemies bring old panic back into the room.
The Archvile alone will make battles much harder. Long-time DOOM players know how quickly one bad fight can fall apart when that demon shows up.
Ripatorium 3.0 gives the update a longer tail
The free Ripatorium 3.0 update launches alongside the expansion and gives all players more control over arena challenges. It adds deeper customization, better passcodes, and personal presets.
Players who own Revelations can also unlock three new Ripatorium maps, extra demons, and upgraded new weapons after finishing the DLC campaign.
That gives players a reason to keep coming back after the release. The campaign is the main event, but Ripatorium support gives players a place to keep experimenting after the new levels are done.
The access details are clear
DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations is included with the Premium Edition and Collector’s Bundle. Players with the base game can also buy it separately for $19.99 or upgrade to the Premium Edition for $34.99.
The base game is required, so this is not a standalone release. DOOM: The Dark Ages is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, Battle.net, and PlayStation 5, with Game Pass access for the base game depending on subscription.
For returning players, Revelations has the right shape for a strong first expansion: a new setting, a weapon that changes combat, tougher enemies, and more arena tools once the campaign is over.
