Fortnite is making gaming crossovers the main theme of its next Battle Royale season. Epic Games has revealed Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, with Kingdom Hearts, Persona, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man, and Tetris all appearing in the season's promotional material.
Override begins on August 20 and goes much further than adding one or two gaming collaborations during the season. Sora, Joker, Crash, Spyro, Mega Man, Rush, Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman are among the characters shown, while several returning Gaming Legends also appear in the reveal.

Sora brings Kingdom Hearts into Fortnite, while Joker represents Persona. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are also part of the reveal, giving Activision's platforming characters a place in the new season alongside Mega Man and Rush.
The Sonic collaboration is broader than the earlier teasers suggested. Sonic appears with Tails, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman, while Pac-Man and Tetris add two more classic gaming names to the lineup.
Epic has not yet explained exactly how every character shown will appear in the game. Some may become full Outfits, while others could arrive as Sidekicks, accessories, NPCs, or other cosmetic content. The important part of the reveal is the scale of the crossover lineup rather than the exact format of every appearance.

Fortnite has been adding characters from other games for years, but those collaborations have usually appeared as individual Shop releases, Battle Pass additions, or smaller events. Override puts them together as a central part of the season itself.
The promotional artwork also includes returning characters such as Ryu and Blanka from Street Fighter, Master Chief from Halo, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, and Geralt from The Witcher. Their inclusion connects the new arrivals with the wider Gaming Legends lineup that Epic has built over several years.
That makes Override feel less like a normal season with a few crossover skins added on top. The gaming collaborations are one of the main selling points from the start, with characters from several different generations and genres appearing together in the same reveal.
The remaining question is how Epic will divide the new content between the Battle Pass, Item Shop, Sidekicks, and other systems. A Battle Pass trailer has already been released, but Epic has not provided a full availability breakdown for every franchise and character shown.
That means players know which gaming series are involved, but not necessarily how or when every piece of crossover content will become obtainable. Sora's appearance confirms the Kingdom Hearts collaboration, for example, without establishing the release method for all related cosmetics.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override launches on August 20. Its reveal already makes the season's direction clear, with gaming crossovers moving from occasional additions to one of the main ideas behind the season itself.
