Players have been asking Bethesda for more The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered content for more than a year. The RPG looked impressive when it launched, but it had several technical problems. Stuttering, unstable frame rates, and crashes were still common. Bethesda has now confirmed that more patch work is on the way.
Bethesda says the port has received new optimization work. The team is now looking at bringing these improvements to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. There is no release date or full patch list yet, but support is finally moving again.

Bringing Oblivion Remastered to Switch 2 required more than just lowering the graphics settings. The new version includes performance work built around weaker hardware, alongside features such as DLSS anti-aliasing. Bethesda is now examining which of those changes can be carried over to the versions that launched in 2025.
That is good news because the last major update arrived on July 16, 2025. Update 1.2 fixed crashes, quest bugs, map issues, controller problems, and several performance problems. It also added more difficulty options, including the Journeyman setting between Adept and Expert.
The update helped in some areas, but it did not settle the biggest complaints. Testing after release still found uneven performance and stuttering in the open world. Players also reported sudden frame-rate drops and crashes on PC and consoles. Players hoped Update 1.2 would fix the remaster's performance issues, but many were still waiting for more improvements.

The technical problems have been the most frustrating part of an otherwise well-liked remaster. Oblivion Remastered gave Cyrodiil a big visual upgrade while keeping the strange quests and awkward conversations from the 2006 game. It also kept the unpredictable charm that made the original memorable.
Problems are more noticeable when the game starts stuttering during normal exploration. Some players have had a smooth experience, while others still face frame-rate drops and crashes. Performance can also get worse during longer play sessions. Even high-end PCs have not always fixed the performance problems.
PC players have used community patches and engine tweaks while waiting for official fixes. Console owners have fewer options, so another Bethesda update is much more important there. A full performance update could help PS5 and Xbox players more than another small set of bug fixes.
The Switch 2 work gives Bethesda a good starting point, but it does not mean every problem will be easy to fix. Some performance problems have continued through several updates. Bethesda has also not said which improvements will come to other platforms.
Open-world stuttering has been one of the biggest complaints since launch. Players have also reported unstable frame rates and crashes. Fixing those problems would make a bigger difference during normal play than adding more settings or minor visual changes.
Bethesda has not announced when the next update will arrive, so players are still waiting on the details. After more than a year without a major patch, the studio has finally confirmed that the work done for Switch 2 could also improve Oblivion Remastered on PC, PS5, and Xbox.
