GTA 6’s Jason has an Easter egg linking back to the original GTA

October 19, 2026·3 min read

A military shirt worn by Jason in GTA 6 references North Fort Law from the original Grand Theft Auto, sparking theories about his past with Lucia.

Rockstar’s latest Grand Theft Auto VI trailer appears to include a reference stretching back to the original Grand Theft Auto from 1997. The detail appears on one of Jason Duval’s shirts and has prompted speculation about whether it could connect his past to Lucia Caminos.

Jason wears a shirt marked “U.S. Army Marauder Combat Training School, North Fort Law.” North Fort Law was a military location in New Guernsey in the first Grand Theft Auto, making the name a likely callback to one of the series’ earliest settings.

In the original game, Fort Law is a district of New Guernsey, while North Fort Law Military Base appears during the mission “Heist Almighty – Penetrator.” The unusually specific reference therefore fits Jason’s established history better than a generic piece of military clothing.

Rockstar has confirmed that Jason joined the Army after a troubled adolescence. His shirt could indicate where Rockstar imagines part of that service or training took place, although it does not confirm that the original GTA location itself will physically appear in GTA 6.

The Easter egg has sparked a Jason and Lucia theory

The reference becomes more interesting when combined with Lucia’s background. Rockstar says Lucia previously lived in Liberty City with her mother before eventually ending up in Leonida, while Jason’s shirt connects his military history to nearby New Guernsey.

That overlap has encouraged speculation that Jason and Lucia could have crossed paths before the events of GTA 6. There is currently no evidence confirming that theory, however, and the shirt alone cannot establish that Jason trained there or knew Lucia at the time.

Rockstar is keeping their earlier relationship unclear

Rockstar’s official description says that “meeting Lucia” could be the best or worst thing to happen to Jason. Lucia is meanwhile presented as seeing a future with Jason as a possible route toward the life she wants.

The story begins after a seemingly simple score goes wrong and leaves the pair caught in a wider criminal conspiracy across Leonida. Rockstar has emphasized that Jason and Lucia will need to rely on each other, but it has not explained exactly when their relationship began.

North Fort Law may ultimately be nothing more than a deep-cut Easter egg for longtime GTA players. If it does represent part of Jason’s military past, though, its connection to the wider Liberty City area gives Rockstar another possible piece of shared history to explore when Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
