Project Motor Racing Update 2.1 is now available with a free Holden Commodore VF, early triple-screen support on PC and major handling changes. The patch also improves online racing, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and several parts of the game’s presentation.
The Holden arrives through the free Aussie Rivals Pack and joins the Ford Falcon FG in the AUS V8 class. Update 2.1 was released on July 29 for all Project Motor Racing players.
The Aussie Rivals Pack adds the 2013 Holden Commodore VF as a free car. Straight4 Studios previously added the Ford Falcon FG, allowing players to recreate the long-running Ford and Holden rivalry.
Career events supporting the AUS V8 class now include the Commodore. The class also receives changes to its tyres, aerodynamics, centre of gravity, brake heat and default setups.
Update 2.1 changes every car in the GT3 and GT4 classes. Straight4 has revised their suspension, differentials, gear ratios, turbo behaviour, aerodynamics and Balance of Performance using real-world data.
Tyre temperatures, grip and wear have also been adjusted. Brakes can now affect tyre temperature, while brake ducts influence cooling and aerodynamic drag. New default setups have been added for both classes, including low-drag options for Daytona and Brianza. Existing saved setups may behave differently because of the wider handling changes.
PC players can now try native triple-screen support. The feature remains in an early alpha stage, so performance and visual quality may change as development continues.
Virtual reality has also received new settings, fixes and improvements. Straight4 is asking players to share feedback while both features remain under development.
A new Join-in-Progress system lets players enter supported Custom Lobby sessions after Practice or Qualifying has started. This reduces the need to wait for the host to create another event.
Ranked Racing now sends notifications when a registered race is about to begin. Players can leave the registration screen and use other parts of the game while waiting.
Update 2.1 also includes changes to AI opponents, replays, car setups, environments, input devices and the user interface. The Aussie Rivals Pack is available as a free download for all players.
