Sonic the Hedgehog is officially coming to Fortnite

Sonic the Hedgehog is officially heading to Fortnite as part of Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. Sega confirmed the crossover with a new teaser showing Sonic inside a Fortnite version of his familiar Green Hill Zone.

The collaboration arrives as Fortnite prepares for its next season on August 20. Epic has already teased several gaming crossovers for Override, and Sonic is now officially part of the lineup.

Sonic gets his own Fortnite teaser

The short video begins with Peely running through an area inspired by Green Hill Zone, complete with its familiar grass, cliffs, and loop. Sonic then races into view, performs a Spin Dash, and collects a ring before the Override title appears.

Sega shared the video through the official Sonic the Hedgehog account with a message pointing to the familiar-looking Fortnite location. It is the clearest confirmation yet that Sonic himself will be involved in the crossover.

Green Hill Zone could appear in Season 4

The teaser shows a Fortnite environment based directly on Green Hill Zone, one of the best-known locations in the Sonic series. Epic and Sega have not said whether it will become a full named location, a smaller map area, or part of a limited event.

Sonic’s Spin Dash also appears prominently in the footage. Full gameplay details have not been announced, so it is not yet clear how the move will work during regular Fortnite matches.

Epic has not revealed Sonic’s cosmetics, Battle Pass placement, or Item Shop plans. The teaser confirms the crossover but stops short of explaining whether Sonic will appear as a standard Outfit, another type of cosmetic, or through a different gameplay system.

Dr. Eggman has also been teased through Fortnite’s official Discord activity, but his exact role remains unclear. Players will have to wait for Epic’s full Season 4 reveal before the final character lineup is known.

Fortnite teased the Sega partnership earlier

Epic first pointed toward a Sonic collaboration during State of Unreal 2026 in June. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was included among the games involved in upcoming Epic Games Store and Fortnite promotions, but no details about the crossover were shared.

The new teaser goes further by putting Sonic directly inside Fortnite. Chapter 7 Season 4: Override begins on August 20, with more teasers expected before the new season arrives.
