MR. RECORDS adds PS5 and Xbox Series versions as PC demo launches

Wired Productions and Glee-Cheese Studio have confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of MR. RECORDS, expanding the rhythm adventure beyond its previously announced PC and Nintendo Switch 2 releases. The publisher also launched the game's first public PC demo on Steam on September 22.

The demo arrives ahead of October's Steam Next Fest and gives players access to the beginning of George's story. A release date for the full game has not yet been announced.

MR. RECORDS was first revealed during Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition in June, initially for PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version followed in August alongside a gameplay trailer shown during the Future Games Show at Gamescom.

The latest announcement adds PS5 and Xbox Series X|S to that list. The full game is now planned for PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, as well as Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Wired Productions has not announced whether all versions will launch at the same time. The new console editions also do not currently have separate release dates.

The newly released demo lets players meet George, an older man who finally opens the record shop he has dreamed about for years. During the day, players manage the store, meet customers and recommend records based on their musical tastes.

The game changes direction once George listens to the records himself. Each song transports him into a different rhythm-based world where players run, jump, slide and dodge in time with the music.

Those stages are shaped around different tracks rather than following one fixed format. Glee-Cheese says the full game will include more than 40 handcrafted levels, with rhythm battles, chase sequences, minigames and other gameplay changes appearing across George's musical journeys. 

The soundtrack will also move between several styles, including funk, progressive rock, hip-hop, electro and 1980s pop. The music has been composed by the development team.

Running the record shop is also tied to the game's story. Players can expand George's collection, unlock new stock and learn more about customers while gradually uncovering memories from his own life.

Between musical stages, George can return to his bedroom above the shop. The area acts as a hub where players can review memories, track progress and interact with story elements before returning to the store or another record.

Glee-Cheese previously developed A Musical Story and Headbangers: Rhythm Royale, making MR. RECORDS another music-focused project from the French studio. Wired Productions is publishing the game.

The PC demo is available now through Steam ahead of Steam Next Fest. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can now wishlist the full game alongside the existing PC versions, while the Nintendo Switch 2 edition remains in development.
