Buying a new expansion at full price usually feels safe for more than a few weeks, but DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations has already broken that expectation. The PS5 DLC launched on July 7 at $19.99 and is now down to $9.99 in the PlayStation Store Summer Sale, with the offer ending on August 13.
The sudden cut is more surprising because Revelations has been received as a major improvement rather than a weak add-on. Its six-level campaign brings faster movement, deeper puzzles, new demons, and the Chain Spear, giving players a large piece of content at half price while many early buyers are still finishing it.

Three weeks is barely enough time for a full-price expansion to settle into the market, which makes this discount difficult to ignore. Early PS5 buyers paid twice as much for the same campaign, and some may not have reached the final level before the sale arrived. Discounts are normal, but this one came unusually fast.
The base game and Premium Edition are also discounted, turning the whole package into a cheaper entry point for players who skipped launch. Existing owners only need the $9.99 add-on, while new buyers can compare the full editions before spending anything.
A sale this early can also change how players view future DLC pricing. Anyone who regularly waits for discounts now has another reason to avoid buying on day one, especially when a large publisher is willing to cut a new expansion by half within the same month. The lower price is excellent for late buyers, but rough for the people who supported it first.

The campaign sends the Slayer through six large stages across a frozen Hell, Purgatory, and stranger cosmic areas. New demons, tougher fights, hidden upgrades, and more involved puzzles make the expansion feel closer to a compact game than a short mission pack. It also requires the base version of DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Combat changes most through the Chain Spear, which can pull the Slayer toward enemies and parts of the environment. It supports quick movement, air control, parries, heavy slams, and precision throws, bringing more speed into the heavier style of the main game. The weapon gives every arena a different rhythm instead of simply adding another way to deal damage.
That mix has helped Revelations earn strong reviews from players and critics. The expansion keeps the weight of The Dark Ages while bringing back some of the mobility associated with DOOM Eternal. Its larger fights and improved level design make the $9.99 sale price feel unusually generous for content released only weeks ago.
Existing owners who only want the new campaign have the easiest decision because the standalone DLC is now the cheapest route. The sale includes all six levels, the Chain Spear, new demons, and extra Ripatorium content after the story is finished. Nothing important is removed from the discounted version.
Players who do not own the base game should compare the Standard and Premium Editions instead of buying everything separately. The Premium package includes Revelations along with the main campaign and its extra digital content, which may offer better value depending on the current store discount. Checking the final cart price is more useful than relying on the original edition prices.
The offer remains available until August 13, leaving enough time to decide without rushing. Anyone interested in the new movement, harder encounters, or extra Ripatorium maps can now enter at a much lower price, while early buyers are left with a better lesson about how quickly Bethesda is willing to discount new DOOM content.
