Free Silent Hill f DLC Is Available Right Now
June 29, 2026·3 min read
Silent Hill f players have one more free item to add to their collection. Konami has released the free Crimson Butterfly costume, a Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake crossover outfit that gives Hinako a look inspired by Mio Amakura.
The costume is available through Patch 1.20. Players who own Silent Hill f can update the game, then equip it from the main menu or at a Hokora during play.
The Crimson Butterfly costume is free for owners
The new outfit changes Hinako’s appearance, but it does not add a new story chapter, ending, quest, or gameplay feature. This is a cosmetic bonus, not a full DLC expansion.
That keeps the update easy to understand. Anyone returning to Silent Hill f can use the costume for a replay or switch to it during the game after resting at a Hokora.
Players who do not see the costume should make sure the game is updated to Patch 1.20 or later. Once the update is installed, the outfit is available at no extra cost.

Fatal Frame is a natural horror match
The crossover works because Silent Hill f and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake already feel close in tone. Both use Japanese horror, isolated towns, young women in danger, and dread that builds slowly instead of chasing cheap noise.
Silent Hill f follows Hinako through Ebisugaoka, a 1960s town overtaken by fog, flowers, and violence. Fatal Frame II follows Mio and Mayu through a haunted village where the Camera Obscura is the only real defense.
The outfit does not change how Silent Hill f plays, but it fits the game’s mood better than a louder crossover skin would. It looks like a small nod between two horror series that understand quiet fear.
The update also points toward Fatal Frame II
The DLC gives Silent Hill f players a reason to look at Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake if they have not played it yet. The two games are different, but both lean into personal horror, old places, and the feeling of being trapped somewhere that already knows your name.
A Steam bundle is also available with both games at a discount, making the crossover feel more like a recommendation than a random costume drop.
For players who finished Silent Hill f and want another slower horror game, Fatal Frame II is the more obvious next stop. It trades body horror and psychological pressure for ghosts, ritual, and a camera that turns every encounter into a risk.
This is a small return trip to Ebisugaoka
The Crimson Butterfly costume is not the kind of DLC that changes the game’s future. It is a small free reason to revisit Hinako’s story, especially for players who want to replay Silent Hill f with a different look.
A quiet costume crossover suits both games better than a big event would have. For anyone who already owns Silent Hill f, the next step is simple: update the game, equip the outfit, and head back into Ebisugaoka.
