007 First Light's Opening Mission Will Be Free on PS5 From November 10
IO Interactive will release a free 007 First Light Starter Pack on PS5 on November 10, covering the full opening mission, with progress carrying over.
007 First Light is getting a free Starter Pack on PS5 on November 10, 2026, allowing players to experience the game's entire opening mission without buying the full adventure. Developer IO Interactive announced the offer on November 5, alongside a separate one-hour trial for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.
The Starter Pack is already available on PC through Steam and Xbox Series X|S. Players who enjoy the introduction can purchase the full game and carry over their progress.
Free Starter Pack Lets Players Experience Bond's First Mission
The Starter Pack includes Against the Odds, the opening mission set in Iceland. It introduces a younger James Bond before he earns his 00 status, giving newcomers their first experience of IO Interactive's take on the famous spy.
The mission introduces the game's mix of stealth, exploration, and action. Players can get a feel for its espionage mechanics and cinematic presentation before deciding whether to continue the story.
Unlike a timed trial, the Starter Pack provides access to the complete introductory mission. It will be available to PS5 owners without requiring a PlayStation Plus subscription.
PS Plus Premium Subscribers Can Try the Game Right Now
PlayStation Plus Premium members already have another way to experience 007 First Light. Sony has introduced a one-hour game trial, allowing subscribers to try the full game for a limited period.
The two offers work differently. The Starter Pack restricts access to the opening mission without imposing a one-hour limit, while the Premium trial allows players to progress through the game until their time expires.
IO Interactive has confirmed that progress from either option carries over when players purchase the full version. This means they can continue their adventure without replaying the content they have already completed.
007 First Light Gets a 50% PS5 Discount
Alongside the free access options, IO Interactive has announced limited-time discounts of up to 50% on PS5 and 40% on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The offers vary by edition, with the Deluxe Edition receiving the advertised discount on Steam and PlayStation.
The Steam promotion ends November 9, followed by Xbox on November 15 and PlayStation on November 30. However, regional storefronts may display different deadlines, so players should check their local store before purchasing.
007 First Light is a thrilling espionage action-adventure game from IO Interactive. Players follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6's training program and discover an origin story of the world's most famous spy.
