New Steam FPS Alteredblood+ Combines Splatoon and Doom With Blood-Powered Combat

Alteredblood+, a fast-paced FPS inspired by Splatoon, Doom, and Quake, launched in Steam Early Access on November 4, 2026. Developed by TrueWorld Studios, the indie shooter replaces colorful ink with enemy blood, turning the battlefield into a resource players need to survive.

Instead of simply killing enemies, players must spread their blood across walls and floors to replenish health, restore ammunition, and strengthen their weapons. The mechanic rewards aggressive play while making positioning an important part of every encounter.

Enemy Blood Becomes a Weapon in Alteredblood+

The central mechanic in Alteredblood+ revolves around covering the environment in blood. Shooting enemies creates splashes on nearby surfaces, while killing them spreads even more blood throughout the arena.

Players can collect that blood by sliding, dashing, or stomping through it, recovering health and ammunition without relying entirely on traditional pickups.

Standing in blood also activates the Altered state, giving weapons powerful new effects. Each weapon has its own interaction with blood and movement, encouraging players to experiment with different attacks.

Quake-Style Movement Keeps the Action Fast

Alteredblood+ features movement mechanics inspired by classic arena shooters. Players can bunny hop, air strafe, surf, and rocket jump to move through levels while avoiding enemy attacks.

The game also offers Classic and Modern air-control settings, letting players choose how they handle movement. Blood-powered abilities can further improve mobility, including higher jumps and the ability to pass through certain obstacles.

Players control a Reaper created by MOTHER, a self-replicating megastructure that has consumed almost the entire observable universe. The Reaper is tasked with eliminating the remaining humans, who survive by harvesting MOTHER's blood.

Steam Early Access Includes Six Missions and Survival Mode

The initial Early Access release features three story episodes containing six missions. Players can also access Gravekeeper, a wave-based survival mode featuring three arenas.

The launch version includes four weapons, a knife, six enemy types with Altered variants, and one chapter boss. Character and blood colors are customizable, while online leaderboards track performance across the game's modes.

TrueWorld Studios plans to expand Alteredblood+ with additional story missions, weapons, enemies, and survival arenas. The developer is targeting a full release in late 2027, although that remains a development goal rather than a confirmed launch date.

Alteredblood+ is available on Steam for PC, with a free demo also available. A 15% introductory discount runs until November 11.
