Battlefield 6 Season 4 Brings Back Two-Seat Jets

July 17, 2026·3 min read
Battlefield 6 is bringing back a long-missing air combat feature in Season 4, with two-seat fixed-wing jets appearing in the new naval warfare trailer. The update is scheduled to launch on July 21, 2026, and it also appears to tease a Top Gun crossover.

The feature has drawn attention because Battlefield has not had two-seat fixed-wing jets since Battlefield 2 in 2005. Pilots, gunners and squads have missed the older style of coordinated air combat.

Two-Seat Jets Return After 21 Years

The Season 4 trailer shows jets that appear to support two players in one aircraft. That setup lets one player focus on flying while another handles weapons, targeting or support functions.

Battlefield has included plenty of aircraft since Battlefield 2, but later entries largely moved away from that specific fixed-wing setup. Its return could make air combat feel more team-based again, especially for players who prefer vehicle teamwork over solo dogfighting.

The feature also changes how squads may approach the skies. A two-seat jet can reward communication, timing and role discipline in a way that single-pilot aircraft often cannot.
Season 4 is also bringing naval warfare to Battlefield 6. EA’s 2026 roadmap had already pointed to the return of larger maps and sea combat, and the new trailer gives players a clearer look at that direction.

The update introduces Tsuru Reef, a new map built around water, boats and combined-arms fighting. Battlefield naval combat works best when infantry, aircraft and vehicles all have a reason to fight over the same space.

A water-heavy map can also change the rhythm of matches. Infantry routes become more exposed, boats become more valuable, and aircraft can pressure objectives from different angles.

Top Gun Tease Closes The Trailer

The trailer ends with a clear Top Gun-style tease, using familiar music and fighter jet imagery to point toward a crossover. EA has not shared the full details of the collaboration yet, so the exact content is still unknown.

For now, players should expect themed items or aircraft-related content rather than a full crossover mode until EA confirms more. The tease still makes sense for a season built around jets, naval warfare and high-speed air combat.

Battlefield 6 Keeps Expanding Its Vehicle Sandbox

Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game was pitched around class-based squad play, destruction, infantry combat and large-scale vehicle warfare.

Season 4 puts more focus on the vehicle side of Battlefield 6. Boats, jets and a water-heavy map give Battlefield 6 a different shape from its launch maps, especially for players who felt the game needed more variety in its combat spaces.

That variety is important for a live-service Battlefield game. New weapons and cosmetics can keep players busy, but new vehicle roles and map layouts can change how matches actually play.

July 21 Is The Next Big Update

Battlefield 6 Season 4 launches on July 21, 2026. Players can expect naval warfare, Tsuru Reef, new vehicles, new weapons and the return of two-seat fixed-wing jets when the update goes live.

EA still needs to explain the full Top Gun crossover and how two-seat jets will work in regular matches. For now, Season 4 looks like Battlefield 6’s biggest push yet toward classic combined-arms chaos across land, sea and air.
