Graveyard Keeper 2 Passes $3 Million in Steam Preorder Revenue Before Launch
The sequel has built significant interest before release, while its free demo lets players carry their progress into the full game. It also expands the original with town rebuilding, undead automation, and defensive battles.
Graveyard Keeper 2 has passed $3 million in gross Steam preorder revenue ahead of its September 22 launch, with more than 190,000 copies already preordered.
tinyBuild CEO Alex Nichiporchik shared the latest figures shortly before release, alongside another major milestone of more than 1 million Steam wishlists. The numbers have led the publisher to expect a strong opening for Lazy Bear Games' sequel, although its actual launch performance will not be known until the game is available.
Steam preorders climbed sharply in the final days

The latest total represents a substantial increase over figures shared just three days earlier. On September 18, Nichiporchik reported more than 147,000 preorders and gross Steam revenue above $2.5 million. By September 21, the preorder count had passed 190,000 and revenue had moved beyond $3 million.
That means the game added more than 40,000 Steam preorders during the final stretch before launch. The earlier update also showed that 109,000 of its 1 million wishlists had already converted into preorders at that point.
The $3 million figure represents gross Steam preorder revenue rather than the amount tinyBuild or Lazy Bear Games ultimately receives. Steam currently lists the regular price at $24.99, with a 20% preorder discount reducing it to $19.99 until release.
The demo is carrying progress into the full game

The strong preorder numbers have arrived alongside a free demo released on September 14.
The demo covers the beginning of Graveyard Keeper 2, allowing players to visit the Town, craft, gather resources, manage the graveyard, and get an early introduction to commanding an undead army. Save data from the demo carries directly into the full game, so players do not need to restart after release.
Nichiporchik reported around 22,000 concurrent demo players on September 18, pointing to that activity alongside preorders and wishlists when discussing the game's launch momentum.
Graveyard Keeper 2 expands beyond the cemetery
The sequel keeps the graveyard management and automation systems from the original while giving players responsibility for rebuilding and defending the Town.
Players take the role of the Grand Inquisitor, using zombie workers to automate production while constructing defenses, equipping undead soldiers, and leading them against a zombie invasion. Town restoration also becomes part of progression, with residents providing quests and new opportunities as buildings are repaired.
Graveyard Keeper 2 launches September 22 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
