Wuchang sequel brings back original creative director
July 30, 2026·3 min read
A sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is officially in development under a new studio led by the original game’s creative director, Xia Siyuan. Publisher 505 Games will fund and release the project worldwide.
The announcement follows reports that the original development team at Leenzee had been dissolved after internal changes. The new game has entered its preparation phase, but its title, platforms and release date have not been revealed.
Xia Siyuan Leads A New Studio

The sequel is being developed by Indolphinity, also known as Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology. Xia founded the Chinese studio after leaving Leenzee, where he served as creative director and producer on Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
Indolphinity will oversee the sequel’s creative development, while 505 Games will handle funding and global publishing. Xia said the team plans to listen to players and deliver a more polished and complete experience.
“Wuchang’s story is far from over,” Xia said. He added that the new chapter will remain closely tied to Chinese culture and the ideas behind the original game.

The Original Team Was Reportedly Dissolved
Xia left Leenzee following a leadership dispute earlier in 2026. The remaining developers were reportedly offered positions on outsourcing work or other projects, but many declined and the original Wuchang team was later dissolved.
Leenzee and 505 Games did not publicly provide a full account of the reported dispute. The sequel will therefore be made outside the studio that developed the first game, although its original creative lead is returning.
505 Games Now Controls The Series

Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, acquired the Wuchang intellectual property in April 2026. The deal gave the publisher control of the series and opened the way for development to continue with a different team.
Digital Bros is also creating a local subsidiary in Chengdu to support Indolphinity and the sequel. This will allow the game’s development to remain based in China while 505 Games manages its international release.
Wuchang Reached Five Million Players
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launched in July 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Soulslike action RPG attracted more than 131,000 concurrent Steam players at launch and later reached five million players across PC and consoles.
The game follows the pirate warrior Bai Wuchang as she explores a supernatural version of China during the final years of the Ming dynasty. Its story combines historical locations and figures with monsters created by a mysterious disease called Feathering.
505 Games has not confirmed whether Bai Wuchang will return in the sequel. No gameplay footage or details have been shared, and development is still at an early stage.
