Everything announced at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026

September 21, 2026·7 min read

Lufia finally comes to PC, Stronghold 4 details its Early Access plans and Thief gets a proper gameplay showing in the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026.

The PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct took place over the weekend as part of Tokyo Game Show 2026, with 36 games packed into the broadcast. Some appeared for barely long enough to say hello, while others got much more time.

Lufia made the biggest comeback, with its first two games finally getting official PC releases. Firefly showed much more of Stronghold 4's Early Access plans, while Nightdive gave Thief: The Dark Project Remastered a proper gameplay showing.

There were also new expansions for BALL x PIT and Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, plus enough October release dates to make an already busy month even worse.

Here are the biggest announcements, followed by everything else shown during the Tokyo Direct.

Lufia is finally coming to PC

Two SNES RPGs that somehow never received official PC versions are finally making the jump. Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga bundles Lufia & the Fortress of Doom with Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, bringing both games to PC in 2027 through Taito and Clear River Games.

Neither game has ever had an official PC release, so the 2027 collection will be the first time both are available on the platform. The collection will include modern enhancements, although neither company is saying much about those yet. We still do not know how the games will look, what quality-of-life options are being added or how much of the original presentation will remain untouched.

After more than 30 years on the SNES, Lufia is finally getting a proper PC release in 2027.

Stronghold 4 showed what Early Access actually looks like

Stronghold 4 spent its Tokyo Direct appearance on skirmishes, where up to seven AI lords can share one of 14 battlefields. The footage followed settlements growing from basic wooden defenses into larger stone fortifications as players gathered resources, expanded their walls and prepared for attacks.

Early Access will also include a 22-mission prequel campaign and Free Build alongside skirmishes. Online multiplayer is planned for the full release rather than day one.

That gives us a much clearer picture of what Stronghold 4 will look like when Early Access begins later in 2026.

Thief finally showed us Garrett at work

The Tokyo Direct finally gave Garrett some room to sneak around. We saw him work through mansions and underground passages, avoid patrols and steal from rooms whenever the guards looked the other way.

The remaster keeps the original first-person stealth intact while cleaning up the environments and character models around it. Controller players are getting a new inventory wheel too, so selecting Garrett's tools no longer depends entirely on the old PC interface.

Nightdive is also includes the extra missions from Thief Gold, a mission selector and support for custom campaigns. We still don't have a release date, but this was the first showing that really looked like sitting down to play Thief again rather than inspecting a remaster.

BALL x PIT is adding eight more ways to break a run

Risen Ballbylon arrives on November 12 and piles eight new hunters, 20 ball evolutions and four biomes onto BALL x PIT, with another 20 buildings waiting back in town between runs.

The trailer gave us a taste of how strange some of those hunters can get. The Scandalmonger fires balls that orbit the character instead of following the usual firing patterns, immediately changing where you want to stand and how close you are willing to get to enemies.

For a game built around discovering combinations that probably should not work together, another pile of hunters and evolutions feels entirely appropriate.

Quarantine Zone is leaving the checkpoint behind

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check has spent most of its life asking whether someone should be allowed through a gate. Miami Zero looks ready to loosen that routine considerably.

The free expansion moves to Miami and takes players away from the checkpoint setting of the base game. The trailer showed drug experimentation, a new environment and the possibility of curing infected survivors rather than simply deciding whether they are safe enough to pass.

That last part could be the most interesting change. Once treatment enters the picture, infected survivors stop being a simple yes-or-no decision.

Miami Zero launches October 15 and will be free for owners of the base game.

October is suddenly packed

The middle of the broadcast turned into a small scheduling problem for anyone already struggling with their October backlog.

Neon Abyss 2 leaves Early Access on October 8, with Theia, God of Vanity joining as a new three-phase final boss. Mirrors, gemstones and beam attacks dominate the encounter, while four-player co-op and side activities such as fishing and basketball remain part of the full release.

Tenebris Somnia follows on October 16. Its segment spent more time behind the camera than inside the game, showing how an Argentine film crew is shooting its live-action horror scenes with real actors and practical effects before they are dropped between the pixel-art sections.

Then October 20 gets crowded. Mycopunk reaches version 1.0 and comes to PS5 that day, while We Were Here Tomorrow returns to Total Mayhem's two-player puzzle format.

Partners are separated inside a retro-futuristic facility, equipped with different tools and expected to somehow explain what they are seeing to the person on the other side.

Virtue and a Sledgehammer arrives on October 27.You can smash through parts of the town to open new paths, with some of those ruined places tied to memories from the protagonist's childhood.

Finally, Cairn gets its first free DLC on October 29. Deep Water adds three climbing locations, water soloing and Marco as a second playable climber alongside Aava.
