Battlefield 6 Season 4 Roadmap Reveals Top Gun Crossover Featuring Maverick Stars
July 20, 2026·3 min read
Battlefield 6 Season 4 is turning into a much bigger update than a normal multiplayer refresh. EA’s new roadmap confirms a full Top Gun crossover, with Top Gun: Maverick actors Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, and Charles Parnell joining the game as voiced characters during the season.
The update begins on July 21 with Pacific Front, while the Top Gun phase starts on August 18. That schedule gives players a long rollout built around naval warfare, aircraft carriers, new jets, Wake Island, and modes that push air and sea combat into the spotlight.
Season 4 Brings The Fight Back To The Pacific
Season 4 starts with Tsuru Reef, a large Pacific map built for battles across land, water, and air. The map includes islands, resort areas, open ocean, and aircraft carriers, giving infantry squads and vehicle players different ways to push the fight.
Naval warfare is the biggest new gameplay change coming with this season. Players will be able to use boats like the RCB-90 patrol boat and the 7.7m NSW RHIB, which should make water routes more important than simple map decoration.
EA is also adding a dynamic wave system that can change how boats move and how fights play out on the water. If it works well, sea combat could feel more active, with waves affecting cover, aim, movement, and ambush opportunities.
The Top Gun Crossover Fits The Season Theme
The Top Gun crossover arrives on August 18 with three familiar Maverick actors. Miles Teller returns as Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, Lewis Pullman appears as Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd, and Charles Parnell returns as Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates.
This tie-in makes more sense than a random movie skin pack because Season 4 is already focused on jets, carriers, and Pacific combat. The crossover is landing inside a season where air battles and naval pressure are part of the main design, not just background dressing.
The event also adds Top Gun-inspired cosmetics and two famous aircraft, the F-18 Super Hornet and the F-14 Tomcat. That should help the crossover feel more useful for vehicle players instead of only giving fans a few recognizable characters and outfits.
The New Modes Need To Deliver
Carrier Strike is the main mode tied to the crossover, and it sounds like the clearest mix of both ideas. Teams fight across land, sea, and air while trying to destroy the enemy aircraft carrier, which gives the season a stronger objective than simply adding more vehicles.
Battlefield REDSEC is also getting Fighter Sweep, a jets-only Gauntlet mission set on a reworked version of Tsuru Reef. That mode could be a good test for the new aircraft, especially for players who want the Top Gun event to focus on flying skill.
Season 4 has an exciting new feature, but the update still needs to make matches fun for players. Naval combat has to be smooth, jets need fair balance, and the Top Gun crossover needs to support the gameplay instead of feeling like a movie promotion placed on top of it.
