Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is shutting down in October
Square Enix is shutting down Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis on October 6, 2026. The online RPG will end just over three years after its mobile launch and less than three years after it arrived on Steam.
The game launched for iOS and Android on September 7, 2023, before coming to Steam on December 6, 2023. Once service ends, players will no longer be able to access the game, its story chapters, events or gacha systems.
Square Enix sets the shutdown date
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will go offline on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT. Square Enix announced the end of service on July 7, giving players roughly three months before the servers close. The company has already stopped sales of Red Crystals, the game’s paid currency. Players who still have Red Crystals can continue using them until the shutdown date, but new purchases are no longer available.

Ever Crisis was built as a live-service FF7 archive
Ever Crisis was pitched as a mobile and PC retelling of the Final Fantasy VII universe. It included parts of the original Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core and other connected stories, along with new material about young Sephiroth and The First Soldier.
The game used chapter-based storytelling, turn-based battles and character gear pulls. It worked as a remake-style retelling, a companion project and a gacha game for fans who wanted more FF7 content between Square Enix’s larger remake trilogy releases.
The final chapter arrives before shutdown
Square Enix still plans to release more content before the game closes. In-game events are scheduled to continue until service ends, and the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII saga in Ever Crisis is set to arrive on September 6, 2026.
That date is one day before the game’s third anniversary on mobile. It gives players one last story update before the servers go offline a month later.
Refunds are limited to Taiwan residents
Square Enix has confirmed a refund process for unused paid Red Crystals, but only for players living in Taiwan. Details will be shared later through the game and official website.
Players outside Taiwan have been told to use any remaining Red Crystals before service ends. The game’s notice also warns players not to delete the app or reinstall it on another device if they need account verification for the refund process.
