From Twitch to Marvel, Inde Navarrette's journey took an unexpected turn. Before Marvel Studios cast her as Rogue in its new X-Men film, Between auditions, she streamed games on Twitch and took on other work to pay the bills. The movie is set to release on May 5, 2028.
Her Marvel casting was confirmed at D23 2026, just months after Obsession put her in the spotlight. Navarrette had already worked in television, but the years between jobs were less glamorous. She kept gaming during that time, using it to fill the gaps between auditions.
Navarrette was already a longtime gamer before she started broadcasting online. She grew up playing PlayStation 2 with her older brother, later moving into games such as Call of Duty, Fallout, Red Dead, and The Last of Us. During the pandemic, she built a PC and began spending more time streaming.
Watching creators such as Markiplier made Twitch feel like a natural extension of something she already enjoyed. When acting work slowed down, she could play with friends, talk with viewers, and keep herself busy instead of waiting around for another role.
After filming Obsession, Navarrette went through a long stretch without landing another major role. She continued auditioning while streaming and taking other work, including dog walking, to help cover rent. She later removed much of her old Twitch material because she worried the clips could affect how people viewed her as an actor.

Marvel Studios officially introduced Navarrette as Rogue during its D23 presentation in Anaheim. She joined a new X-Men cast alongside Kit Connor as Scott Summers and Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier. Samara Weaving plays Emma Frost, Maya Boyd plays Storm, and Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey. Jake Schreier is directing.
The role makes Navarrette at the center of Marvel's next X-Men lineup rather than giving her a small supporting part. Rogue is one of the team's best-known characters, but Marvel has not shown Navarrette in costume or explained how this version will be written.
Navarrette had already spoken publicly about being interested in the MCU before the D23 announcement. In July, she said she had met Schreier and would be open to joining the franchise. A little over a month later, Marvel confirmed which mutant she would play. The announcement was made onstage at a Marvel event.
Navarrette's turn as Nikki Freeman in the horror film Obsession gave her career a major lift before the Marvel announcement. The performance drew attention to an actor who had previously appeared in projects such as Superman & Lois.It also came after a difficult period when her auditions were not leading to new jobs.
In August, she said she was playing God of War Ragnarök and Fortnite, while earlier interviews covered her history with Call of Duty and other games. She has also talked about wanting to do voice work in games or anime.
Marvel's X-Men now gives Navarrette her first confirmed role in the MCU. The studio has announced her as Rogue alongside the rest of its new mutant cast, but filming details and a first look at the character have not been shared. The movie remains set for theaters on May 5, 2028.
