Soulframe Opens Free PC Alpha to Everyone on November 6

November 4, 2026·3 min read

Digital Extremes opens Soulframe's PC alpha to everyone on November 6, with the Verse of the Veilands update arriving later that month.

Soulframe, the fantasy action RPG from Warframe developer Digital Extremes, will open its doors to all PC players on November 6, 2026. The game's Open Preludes phase removes the invitation requirement, allowing anyone to join its ongoing alpha test for free.

The announcement follows nearly three years of restricted testing, during which players needed an invitation or other qualifying access. Digital Extremes also revealed Verse of the Veilands, a major update arriving later in November with wolf mounts, new combat abilities, and changes to world progression.

Starting November 6, players can create an account through the official Soulframe platform, download the Windows PC launcher, and begin playing without an invitation or paid Founders Pack.

Players explore Midrath, an island in the fantasy world of Alca that is threatened by the invading Ode forces. They complete story quests known as Fables and use melee combat alongside supernatural abilities granted through Pacts. Co-op multiplayer, crafting, weapon progression, and character customization also become available as players advance through the game.

Open Preludes remains an early alpha rather than a full release. The test will initially be available through Digital Extremes' own launcher, while the Steam version can only be wishlisted.

The upcoming Preludes 17 update will introduce a new environmental progression system called Veilands. After completing The Tormented Stag quest, players will encounter regions corrupted by the invading Ode forces and complete objectives called Votives to discover how to destroy the machines draining the land.

Restoring these regions will bring back natural resources, fishing opportunities, and other activities. Votives are also being reworked with optional secondary objectives and a scoring system that determines rewards.

A new Ode Infamy system will introduce stronger enemies and reinforcements as players challenge the invading forces. Creative director Geoff Crookes said opening the test to more players would help the studio gather feedback on these systems and guide development.

Wolf mounts and new combat abilities arrive later in November

Verse of the Veilands will also introduce the Omen Wolf mount, allowing players to raise their wolf companion into a rideable animal. Unlocking the mount requires completing the wolf pup's training and purifying two Veilands regions before preparing a special item called a Bairnsday Biscuit.

A new Pact called Ode Shrike will bring additional combat options, including spike traps, balloon darts that lift enemies, and chains that link targets together. The update will also expand fishing and bring back the seasonal Bita's Eve event with new rewards and a miniboss.

Digital Extremes has confirmed that Verse of the Veilands will arrive in November, but has not announced an exact release date for the update.
